Hills wish White Elephants, by Ernest Hemingway         In Ernest Hemingways Hills resembling White Elephants, the two main characters, trip the light fantastic and the unnamed American public, are at a train station in Spain bear witnessing to decide whether or not they (actu all in ally just Jig) should go th vehement with an abortion. The outset time I contemplate the falsehood it wasnt very clear to me what type of an operation it was that they were brattle round. Hemingway doesnt really spell it out for the put downer. After nurture the questions at the end of the text and reading over the compass point again I realized that the operation they were talking rough was in fact an abortion. Although Hemingway provides very little information near the characters situation or their pasts, the use of symbolic representation in the characters confabulation passim the untrieds plow makes it a whole lot easier to understand.          The only thing I really noticed the first time I read the story was the stress between the two main characters end-to-end the story. In the first dialogue, there seems to be some tension between Jig and the American man. They speak to each other in short sentences and Jig starts gainting sarcastic with her man the like companion (Hemingway doesnt state whether they are married) when he says that hes never seen white elephants. At first impression, seems like the lady is the antagonist.

For most of the beginning of the story all they talk about is drinks. At one point Jig says Thats all we do, isnt i tlook at things and try new drinks?(445) The! se people must have a reasonably hollow relationship if thats all they do.
